The defending champions are unbeaten in their last eight matches
Kenya Police Bullets solidified their lead at the top of the Women's Premier League (WPL) table with a 1-0 victory over Gideon Starlets in a match played at the Mawego National Polytechnic.
Police went into the match sitting at the top of the log with 40 points, two more than their closest challengers Ulinzi Starlets, with Trinity Starlets closing the top three with 34 points.
The Law Enforcers were also in great form, having won their previous eight matches, including two walkovers.
Gideon, on the other hand, were 10th on the log with 17 points.
The hosts utilized their home advantage to settle in the match quickly and held Police well in the opening 20 minutes.
However, the David Vijago-coached side settled more from the 20th minute and had a flurry of chances, but it was not until the 31st minute when Zaina Namuleme dazzled past the Gideon Starlets backline to break the deadlock and give Police a lead that they took to halftime.
The defending champions pushed for another goal in the second half, but none was coming, while they also had to wade through a series of attacks by Gideon Starlets.
At the Comboni Polytechnic in Gilgil, Ulinzi Starlets cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Trinity Starlets.
Trinity were the better side in the opening minutes, but they could not make the best of their early dominance to score and allowed Ulinzi to grow into the match.
With the match destined for a barren draw at the break, the military women would then take the lead in the 48th minute through Quinter Adhiambo who scored from a Mercy Airo assist to ensure Ulinzi took the lead at the break.
Ulinzi would then add a second in the 69th minute through Rising Starlets forward Elizabeth Mideva who ensured her side walked out of the match with a 2-0 victory.
After today's matches, Police remain at the top with 43 points while Ulinzi are second with 41 points.
Trinity come a distant third with 34 points.
