Kisumu Allstarlets sit bottom of the standings with two points, two fewer than Kisped Queens, while Gideon Starlets complete the relegation zone with 13 points.
After two successful matches on Saturday, 31 January, the FKF Women’s Premier League (WPL) returns today, Sunday, 1 February, with one match scheduled.
Action shifts to the lakeside city of Kisumu, where Kisumu Allstarlets will take on Kayole Starlets in a league fixture at Kisumu Day High School from noon.
Ahead of today’s clash, Kenya Police Bullets remain top of the league table with 31 points, two more than Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets, who are separated by goal difference and are both within touching distance of the top three.
Kisumu Allstarlets sit bottom of the standings with two points, two fewer than Kisped Queens, while Gideon Starlets complete the relegation zone with 13 points.
Kayole Starlets, meanwhile, have endured a poor run of form, having won just one of their last five matches. The league newcomers have dropped to ninth on the table with 13 points, just one place above the relegation zone.
The slump in form saw the club part ways with assistant coach Vincent Ngesa, place head coach Mary Adhiambo on an unspecified break, and appoint Joshua Sakwa as interim head coach, assisted by Esther Mazira.
However, results have worsened since the changes. In their two matches under the new technical bench, Kayole suffered a 4–0 defeat to league leaders Kenya Police Bullets before losing by the same scoreline to Gideon Starlets.
Kayole will therefore be eager to return to winning ways at the expense of Kisumu Allstarlets, who have endured a difficult campaign.
The lakeside outfit are yet to register a win this season, having managed just two draws from their 13 matches so far.
Kisumu Allstarlets will also be pushing for their maiden victory of the season as they host their first home match at Kisumu Day High School, following the demolition of Moi Stadium, Kisumu, and the unavailability of Mamboleo Stadium.
