Worst goal drought in Madrid's history! Can anyone even remember last time Rodrygo scored?

The disappointing defeat against Celta last night extended the Brazilian's goalless run at the club to 32 games!

Does anyone recall the first leg of the Derbi Madrileno in the Champions League Round of 16? Nowadays, the football schedule is as busy as it gets, not only for players and managers, but for supporters and spectators as well.

With a bunch of quality games played every day, one can hardly remember a match from three days ago, let alone the one played on March 4.

But why is that clash even important, one will wonder. Well, four minutes into the duel between the Madrid giants, Rodrygo broke the deadlock after Federico Valverde's assist, scoring his last goal in the Los Blancos jersey.

Since that day, the Brazilian has been goalless, and last night's La Liga defeat to Celta was his 32nd consecutive game without finding the net! Hence, his name will go down in Madrid's history books, as he became their attacker with the longest goal drought, in terms of the number of games!

To put things into perspective, let's present it more precisely in numbers: Rodrygo hasn't scored in 280 days (nine months and five days) or 1,387 minutes he spent on the pitch!

Truth be told, he netted in a friendly match in August against Austrian Tirol, but that can by no means count, as it wasn't an official match.

As for his national team form, he bagged a brace in a friendly game against South Korea in October, hinting at awakening, but alas... His "Real Madrid curse" is still on.

During the previous June Transfer Window, Premier League giants like Liverpool and Arsenal locked horns in a fight for his signature, and were willing to splurge vast amounts for his transfer. However, tables have turned since...

After all, who'd want to bring a player who hasn't scored for almost 24 hours (he's 53 minutes short)! At the same time, Rodrygo's situation at Santiago Bernabeu is critical, as he has started only four out of the 17 games he's played this season.

Are we witnessing the fading of one gem's career, and is the "What could have been..." football section getting a new member?
