Wolves growl at last! Victory after 19 EPL failures

Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 04.01.26. | 15:49

Thanks to a 3-0 win over West Ham in the 20th round of the Premier League, Wolverhampton ended the longest winless run in the history of England's top flight

The longest winless streak in the Premier League history is over! After 19 rounds, almost five months, and numerous failures and breakdowns, Wolverhampton have finally won a league game, beating West Ham 3-0 at home.

The Wolves hinted at such a turn of events with a brave performance against Manchester United five days ago, when they salvaged a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, while the Hammers earned an unpleasant recognition as the first EPL side defeated by Rob Edwards' crew.

Wolverhampton sealed the deal even before the break, as Jhon Arias in the fourth, Hwang Hee-chan from the spot in the 31st, and Matheus Mane in the 41st minute, completely crushed the visitors, and the second half was just a formality.

At the same time, at the age of 18 years and 109 days, Mane, the Portugal-born Englishman of Bissau-Guinean descent, became the club's youngest-ever Premier League scorer, ten minutes after winning the penalty that Hwang sent home.

Nevertheless, although the maiden triumph will lift the team's morale and boost its confidence, the Wolves' ultimate goal, survival in the top flight, remains very far away, as the way out of the relegation zone is currently 13 points away.
