Judging by the start of the season, Roma look set to rejoin the battle at the top of the table and cause problems for the leading teams. Against Verona, it was routine, 2-0

The team from Italy’s capital has recorded four wins in their last five matches, including European competition, and with this victory over Verona they climb to second place in Serie A, just behind leaders Napoli.

AS Roma went into the break with a narrow 1-0 lead, thanks to an early strike from Artem Dovbyk. The Ukrainian forward rose brilliantly in the 7th minute to meet a cross, directing a powerful header past the keeper and into the bottom-right corner. The goal is HERE!

Just a few minutes later, Manu Kone had a chance to double Roma’s advantage, but his effort from the edge of the box was poorly struck and drifted wide.

Hellas Verona grew into the game and looked dangerous through Gift Orban. In the 15th minute, he forced Mile Svilar into a fine save after finding space in the box. Shortly after, Orban went close again from a free kick, his strike narrowly missing the right post.

The visitors nearly found their equalizer in the 28th minute when Orban latched onto a smart pass inside the penalty area and smashed a shot off the crossbar—Roma were lucky to escape. A minute later, Giovane tried to spark another Verona attack with a ball into the area, but Svilar read the situation well and intervened.

Verona started the second half with intent, immediately testing Roma’s defense. Suat Serdar tried his luck from distance in the 47th minute, sending his effort just over the bar. A minute later, Giovane found himself on the edge of the box with a loose ball, but his strike also sailed high.

The visitors continued to push, and around the 67th minute, Rafik Belghali broke free in a promising position. His attempt was firmly struck but straight at Mile Svilar, who stood tall to make the save. Three minutes later, Antoine Bernede unleashed a dangerous low drive toward the bottom-left corner, only for Svilar to produce another fine stop to preserve Roma’s lead.

In the 78th minute, Amin Sarr tried to break the deadlock for Verona with a powerful effort from the edge of the area, but his shot drifted wide of the target.

Roma then delivered the decisive blow just a minute later. After a scramble in the box, the ball fell kindly to Matías Soule, who calmly slotted it into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0. The goal is HERE!

At the end of the match, the home side conceded a goal scored by Gift Orban, but after a VAR review it was confirmed that the striker had been in an offside position.
