He would be a valuable asset to Los Blancos, no doubt
So many transfer saga's lately but none of them are in reference to 'older' players, such as David Alaba. OK, Sergio Aguero's next stop might be a long story but the news of Alaba leaving Bayern have been known for a while now. The whole 'push-me-pull-you' scenario between Alaba and Real Madrid is allegedly close to a happy end.
The Austrian will reportedly join Real Madrid this summer on a five-year deal following the expiration of his Bayern Munich contract.
The 28-year-old has already confirmed that he will be leaving the German giants at the end of the season, ending a 13-year stay at the Allianz Arena which has included two Champions League triumphs.
As for his future, Sky Germany and Daily Mail are reporting that a move to Madrid is expected to be announced in the coming weeks by both clubs, as the Austrian makes the switch to the Spanish capital.
The report details that though an official contract has not yet been signed, Alaba is expected to move to Zinedine Zidane's side.
The Austria international is on the cusp of a ninth straight Bundesliga title before he leaves though. Bayern are currently 10 points clear of RB Leipzig with just four games left this season - a win against Mainz this weekend will confirm the title.
Alaba has been integral to Bayern's success over the last decade, racking up 427 appearances since his debut in 2010.
He has won nine Bundesliga titles and six German Cups, as well as the two titles in Europe, during his time at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern have already bought a ready-made replacement at centre back in Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano, whose move to Bavaria was confirmed in February.
It will be a summer of upheaval at Bayern, with coach Hansi Flick leaving and Jerome Boateng also departing the club, with his contract not being renewed.
Bayern are eliminated from the Champions League, courtesy of Neymar, Mbappe and PSG and even if Bayern lifts another Bundesliga plate - the season might be considered a failure. Whoever takes over the managerial role at Allianz Arena will have to win the big-eared trophy to be considered a success.
