Shabana FC supporters have every reason to celebrate after President William Ruto pledged to renovate and elevate the Kisii County Stadium to international standards.

Speaking in Kisii on Saturday, 22 November, President Ruto noted that the current facility is not good enough to be called home to a club of Shabana's calibre.

He emphasized the need for a modern, world-class stadium that will comfortably host Shabana'a matches, which ordinarily draw big crowds.

This stadium cannot be compared to Kisii. The current facility is below standard, yet Kisii is home to one of the country’s biggest teams, Shabana,” he said.

To solve this, the President revealed that he has reached out to the neighboring Agricultural Shows of Kenya to relocate to offer more room for expansion of the facility.

I have reached out to the Agricultural Shows of Kenya, who currently occupy five acres here, and proposed relocating them so that we can expand this stadium to meet international standards,” Ruto said.

He further added that a contractor is already on standby and ready to commence work, pending the county administration’s completion of paperwork.

My team is already on site, and I am waiting for Governor Simba Arati to complete the necessary paperwork. The delays are holding us back. Once ASK is relocated to the identified 12-acre site, we can proceed with building a stadium capable of hosting international events,” he explained.

The development means that Shabana will have to host their home matches elsewhere should the contractor begin work.

The announcement is the latest in a series of gestures by President Ruto to support Shabana FC.

Back in August, the Head of State pledged a brand-new modern team bus to the club.

On behalf of the entire Shabana family, our players, technical bench, management, and our passionate fans, we extend our heartfelt thank you to H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya, for graciously gifting us a brand-new modern team bus,” the club said in a statement shared by Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama.
