Kenya will take on Seychelles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday, 9 September at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 1600 hrs.

The match comes four days after Harambee Stars suffered a 1-3 defeat to The Gambia at the same venue, much to the annoyance of fans who did not shy away from expressing their frustrations.

With Kenya having an opportunity to make fans happy against Seychelles, Ochieng revealed the source of his confidence for a win in the match.

“The team has moved on from the loss, and everyone is focused on the next game to get the three points because you could see that we did not win, but we kept on fighting.

The team spirit was still there, so I believe that in the next game, it will be better,” Ochieng told FKF Media.

Against The Gambia, Kenya conceded three first-half goals from Sheriff Sinyan in the 13th minute before Brighton & Hove Albion star Yankubah Minteh added a second in the 26th minute as Musa Barrow completed the rout in the 38th minute.

Kenya's consolation goal was scored by Ryan Ogam in the 81st minute as fans left Kasarani a frustrated lot at full-time.

While it was a bad day for Kenya, it was a memorable one for Ochieng as he made his Harambee Stars debut, coming on in the 73rd minute for Rooney Onyango, who turns out for Swedish second-tier side Sogndal FC.

The 22-year-old showed some glimpses of brilliance at a time when Harambee Stars were chasing the game.

Ochieng, who received a call-up due to his impressive form with Spanish LaLiga 2 side Real Sociedad B, will be hoping to get more minutes against Seychelles.
