Former Ushuru gaffer wants to spend time with family and recoup energy for next season

Former Ushuru head coach James Omondi is taking a break from the touchline until the end of the season.

Omondi, commonly known as Odijo was reduced to a free agent in November last year after Ushuru was unceremoniously disbanded after fifteen years of existence.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) who were heavily criticized for dissolving the outfit blamed the economic efforts brought by coronavirus for their actions which left Odijo and fourteen players who had not landed offers before the closure of the summer transfer window stranded.

The players were however lucky to secure employment in the recently closed window but Odijo says he has been turning down offers will not be hunting for a new club until the current season is over.

The former FC Talanta assistant coach said he decided to proceed on a sabbatical break to spend time with his family and strategize for the 2021-2022 season.

He also cited frustrations by his previous employers for failing to pay him on time despite rendering services in line with the terms of his contract.

I don’t think I will be taking any offers this season. I want to stay away from the game this season just to stay closer to my family and draw a plan for the new season. I have been hoping from one club to the other in the past years and none of them has been faithful enough to pay me on time. I have learnt my lesson the hard way and going forward, I will not be taking an offer from a club which cannot faithfully appreciate my services,” he revealed.

The former Palos head coach who gained fame by clinching the Kenya Premier League Top eight tournament with Muhoroni Youth, also hinted of using the break to further his enrich his coaching badges.
