The two teams will face off in an FKF Premier League rescheduled match that is one of the three games in hand that the Mozzart Bet Cup defending champions possess.

Speaking to the club’s media on the sidelines of their training on Tuesday, 17 March, Omondi explained the circumstances that are different from their 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture on Wednesday, 7 January.

“In the first leg, we largely lost due to fatigue, having had minimal rest of two days from an away match against Shabana.

This time round, we all have had the same number of rest days and without much travel and are therefore confident of securing a win,” said Omondi.

Nonetheless, the former Kariobangi Sharks tactician is aware of the threat posed by the Kenyan giants.

“We anticipate a very tough game. After they (Leopards) lost to Mathare United, we expect them to come out strongly,” he added.

Omondi also took time to explain the decision to play two left backs, Kevin Otiende and Mustapha Kizza, in their last match, a 1-0 victory over Sofapaka, with Otiende scoring the all-important goal.

“The tactic to play both Otiende and Kizza on the left was to stage our attacks from that side as we realised that their left back, as well as left central defender, were not aggressive enough,” he remarked.

For Otiende, he chose to issue a rallying call to the Naibois faithful ahead of the Wednesday afternoon clash.

“I would like to urge our fans to turn up in large numbers, and we promise them a good game as well as three points.”

As it stands, Leopards are second on the league table with 43 points, while Naibois are ninth with 33 points.
