Mathare United head coach, John Kamau, has outlined what went wrong for his side in their 2-0 loss to AFC Leopards in an FKF Premier League match played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.
Second-half goals from Vincent Mahiga and James Kinyanjui handed Ingwe their third consecutive victory, while condemning the Slum Boys to a second straight defeat.

The game was largely balanced in the first half, with Leopards capitalising on their chances after the break to claim all three points and climb to third on the log.
Mathare have endured an inconsistent start to the season, sitting 11th on the table after seven matches.
They have managed two wins, a draw, and four losses, collecting just seven points, a run that has begun to pile pressure on Kamau.
Reflecting on the defeat, the tactician admitted that while the overall performance was decent, his team lacked sharpness in attack.
“The team that started played well, but the only thing I am disappointed in is our performance in the attacking third. That’s what we need to concentrate on,” Kamau said.
He added that fatigue played a part in the team’s second-half struggles, forcing him to make multiple substitutions in a bid to inject energy into the side.
“The players looked tired in the second half, so we had to make changes. That is why I made four substitutions at once, and after that, I think there was more life in the team,” he explained.
Kamau emphasized the need to find solutions to their attacking challenges as they look to bounce back in upcoming fixtures.
“The most important thing now is to plan how we come out of this. We need to identify the right combinations in the opponent’s half, and we are going to do that. We will get it right,” he assured.
The coach also pointed out defensive lapses and praised right-back Fidel Otieno for his impact off the bench.
“There was some laxity in our defensive line, and that is why we made changes. Fidel (Otieno) brought more energy into the right back position and even created some scoring opportunities with his attacking intent, but unfortunately, no one was there to finish them,” he noted.
Mathare United will be hoping to bounce back in their next outing against APS Bomet as Kamau looks to stabilize both ends of the pitch.
