Long-serving attacking midfielder Ibrahim Kitawi has opened up on why he chose to rejoin Kariobangi Sharks in the recent transfer window.

Kitawi caught many by surprise after returning to the former Shield Cup holders in February where he signed a two-year long deal.

He had initially served the club between 2015-2017, helping them to gain promotion to the top flight for the first time since the club's inception.

The former Kenyan international said besides the offer by the club luring him back, their training program was the best in his bid to regain his form after staying on the sidelines for long.

Kitawi, further said the door at Sharks was always open for him to return owing to the role he played towards the team's promotion four years ago.

"Sharks offer one of the best training programs around and as a former player, I felt it would help me hit to my best within a short time. I had been out due to injuries and when Sharks called me, I did not have hesitate in taking their offer," he revealed.

The former Sofapaka player who still harbors hopes of playing abroad in the near future exuded confidence that his second spell at the club will culminate to their fourth major trophy.

Sharks have in the past four years won three major cups with their biggest success being the October 2018 Shield Cup 3-2 triumph over Sofapaka which saw them make their debut at the continental level.

The William Muluya coached club also clinched the regional Super Cup in January 2019, beating Bandari by a solitary goal to book a date with English side Everton for an international friendly match later in the year.

Sharks also opened the 2018- 2019 season with the local Super Cup after humbling Gor Mahia 1-0.

"In my first stint, I helped the club secure a ticket to the country's biggest football competition and it is my hope I will inspire them to a title soon. I still believe that I have what it takes to play abroad," he added.
