Police secured the services of the Serbian tactician following the departure of Etienne Ndayiragije at the start of last month.
Ndayiragije was relieved of his duties after 11 months at the helm , a tenure in which he delivered a historic milestone by guiding the club to its first-ever league title in the 2024/25 season.
However, his time came to an end after Police fell short in the CAF Champions League, exiting in the second preliminary round following a 4-1 aggregate loss to Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman.
In his two league matches this season, the Burundian managed just one win and a draw.
Speaking after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Shabana at the Police Sacco Stadium, Stojanovic insisted there is no cause for alarm despite it being the champions’ second loss of the season.
“Looking at what happened on the field, the only difference between us and them was the one goal they scored. I do not think there is much to change because I believe the team is on the right path,” Stojanovic said.
Gilbert Abala’s first-half volley separated the two sides, condemning the Law Enforcers to a frustrating afternoon.
Police sit third on the log with 17 points from nine matches, two behind leaders Gor Mahia.
Stojanovic, however lauded Shabana for their sharpness on the day.
“That is the nature of football, you score and you win. We were not clinical with our chances and did not maintain focus when we broke through on goal,” the former SC Villa coach said.
The Serb will now be hoping his charges rediscover their cutting edge when they visit Kariobangi Sharks in their next league assignment on Saturday.
