While his first three matches were shaky, he managed to keep two clean sheets in them.

He has since gone on to keep six more, forcing coach Nicholas Muyoti to prefer him in between the sticks ahead of Ochieng, who is back on his feet.

With his confidence and performances growing match after every match, Ogembo explained why Ochieng is the man to be credited for his solid show in between the sticks.

“Job is an inspiration to me. He has pushed me since I signed for this team and keeps on encouraging me. I attribute my success to him, the goalkeeper trainer and the entire technical bench for their support,” said Ogembo.

The custodian, who joined Police in March 225 from National Super League (NSL) side Kibera Black Stars, also disclosed the work put in as understudy readied him for his debut.

“It is all about focus. If you set your mind to work on some goal, you have to go all out and give it your all to achieve it without losing focus. I needed to step up and rise to the occasion. If a moment is yours, you seize it,” he added.

With top performances for Police, Ogembo has been on the radar of various clubs in the league.

It is believed that the club could facilitate his enrollment in the Kenya Police Service.

“It is all God's plan. Mine is to keep working hard, do my best and see what the future awaits,” he added.

Ogembo is expected to play a part in Police’s last league match against Kakamega Homeboyz as well as their Mozzart Bet Cup final match against Tusker FC.
