Today's derby between Liverpool and Arsenal won't just be a duel of two favourites to win the title, but also a clash of the two most active EPL teams in the current transfer window
Ahead of today's clash between Liverpool and Arsenal (18.30), we can tell you that you're in for a treat, that it will be a fierce battle, and that it will be a duel of the two leading favourites to win the Premier League. But you already know all that.
Apart from all those things, this will be a match between the two most active EPL teams in the current transfer window. And it sounds as odd as it gets, especially regarding Arsenal, as the Gunners have never been "lavish spenders." Pretty much the same goes for Liverpool lately, as the Reds spent just around €40 million in the previous June Transfer Window.

However, it's been a whole other story for both sides this year, as they splurged around €630 million! And even though each team brought seven players - Arsenal will soon secure #8, Piero Hincapie - four on each side can be highlighted as major reinforcements. And all of them, except for the injured Jeremie Frimpong, are expected in starting lineups today!
The Dutchman would have certainly taken his place in Liverpool's XI had it not been for the injury, so Conor Bradley will cover his position today. The spot on the opposite flank is reserved for the Reds' newcomer from Bournemouth, Milos Kerkez, while the two ex-Bundesliga players will be in charge of goals.
Florian Wirtz's performances in the opening two EPL rounds were mediocre - he recorded neither a goal nor an assist - but Hugo Ekitike stepped up, scoring against both Bournemouth and Newcastle, as well as in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace.

On the other hand, Mikel Arteta won't have the captain Martin Odegaard at his disposal, which will probably open room for Eberechi Eze's debut for Arsenal.
Martin Zubimendi's understanding and relationship with his midfield partner, Declan Rice, are improving, so the Spaniard's place in the XI is certain.
Bukayo Saka's injury will return Gabriel Martinelli to the starting lineup, as the Brazilian would have definitely sat on the bench if Arsenal's Starboy were ready to play. Noni Madueke started last week against Leeds instead of Martinelli, whose poor form accelerated Arteta's decision to make the ex-Chelsea man a starter.
Finally, Viktor Gyokeres opened his scoring account, netting a brace against the Whites, so the expectations from him are now higher than ever, as the Gunners' fans are hoping he'll be the one to knock out the champions and bring Arsenal a vital win.
So, who do you think has better newcomers? We may get the answer tonight.
