Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson ranks high in Barca's wishlist and could become the first-ever Norwegian at Camp Nou
Barcelona's pursuit of Robert Lewandowski's successor is still on. Among the numerous targets, Erling Haaland's name stands out, though the Catalans will need to put in a lot of effort to convince the striker to leave Manchester City.
However, while chasing the former Borussia Dortmund man, they eyed his Norway teammate and current BVB player, Julian Ryerson.
🚨 Barcelona are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson.

They are keen to sign a backup for defender Jules Koundé as the Spanish champions look to strengthen their defence. A cost-effective option is a priority, and Ryerson fits the profile perfectly.… pic.twitter.com/jRUFyCWTTi
According to German Sky Sport, the Catalans have already contacted the defender's representatives and introduced their plans.
Ryerson's deal with Dortmund expires in 2028, so Barca would have to cough up at least €20 million, which is the player's estimated value as per Transfermarkt. On the other hand, he is reportedly dissatisfied with his playing time under Niko Kovac, as the Croat usually divides minutes between the Norwegian and Yann Couto.
Still, even if he joins the Catalans, the 28-year-old would be an understudy to the injury-prone Jules Kounde, though his advantage is that he can play both on the right and left flank. If he indeed joined Hansi Flick's crew, he'd become the first-ever Norwegian at Camp Nou.
Ryerson joined Dortmund in January 2023 from Union Berlin and has so far played 121 games for the BVB, scoring seven goals.
Nevertheless, before any eventual move, the Blaugrana will have to play two more games until the two-week break and the start of the January Transfer Window: against the third-tier side CD Guadalajara in the Round of 32 of Copa del Rey today (23.00) and against Villarreal in La Liga next Sunday (18.15).
