When it's tough - go to Dortmund

Sancho would like to move to Germany for the third time

The marriage between Jadon Sancho and Manchester United has long since fallen apart, and both sides are eager to part ways. That’s been the case for a while now — the winger doesn’t fit into Ruben Amorim’s vision, and the player himself doesn’t see a future at Old Trafford this season. The main problem for most interested clubs is Sancho’s astronomical salary of 16 million per year (gross). However, Borussia Dortmund has stepped forward with a desire to bring him back, and it seems Jadon can’t say “no” to his old flame. He’s so keen on returning to the Westfalenstadion that he’s reportedly willing to cut his salary in half.

If a deal is struck, Sancho wouldn’t even come close to being the highest-paid player in the squad. That title belongs to Niklas Sule (14 million), with Serhou Guirassy and Gregor Kobel earning slightly less. In fact, the English attacker’s new salary would be on par with the club’s mid-tier earners. It’s a serious financial sacrifice for someone United paid 85 million for — only for him to end up training separately from the team. There were rumors in recent days that Juventus had shown interest in Sancho, but the Turin club simply can’t afford the luxury of his current wages. The Old Lady is already struggling to offload Dušan Vlahović, who earns 12 million (net) per season, and the Serbian striker is entering the final year of his contract. Adding Sancho on top of that would only strain their finances further.

For all these reasons, a third stint at Borussia Dortmund seems the most realistic outcome. The Premier League never quite brought out Sancho’s best — only in the Bundesliga has he consistently shown what he’s capable of. It seems to be the only environment where he truly thrives. And of course, Sancho has no interest in wasting another season, which is why he’s returning to his comfort zone in hopes of rediscovering the form that once made him one of the most highly regarded young talents in the world.
