What does Napoli's UCL berth bring? €18 million to them & €44 million to - Man United?!

All because of a clause in Rasmus Hojlund's loan deal

After a three-year absence, Manchester United have secured a spot in the next edition of the Champions League, so Michael Carrick's men can be pretty relaxed ahead of the final three league games of the season.

In fact, due to a rather strange paradox, the Red Devils will be more eager to follow the final stretch of the Serie A season than the EPL.

And the reason behind it is the one that "makes the world go round", as the famous song from the movie Cabaret sang by Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey says. Money, of course.

Or rather, the loan deal between the Italian and English giants for Rasmus Hojlund.

Namely, when the Dane moved to Naples last September, the Serie A side paid a €6 million loan fee and agreed on the following clause: if Napoli qualify for the Champions League, they must make the deal permanent, keep the striker, and splash out the additional €44 million for his transfer.

Given that only a miracle can prevent the Neapolitans from booking their place among the European elite in the season to come, the Red Devils can count on a significant financial boost.

Ironically, the club from Stadio Diego Armando Maradona will earn just the standard participation fee awarded to every Champions League club - "only" around €18.5 million!

And even though Napoli's director, Giovanni Manna, revealed back in March that the club planned to buy Hojlund regardless of the outcome of the UCL race, it's fascinating to see that the Neapolitans' excellent Serie A campaign made two teams happy.
