Arsenal’s youngster is increasingly being replaced by other players at the club – a perfect opportunity for Man United to join the race for him

Manchester United are already putting plans in motion for a major refresh at left-back ahead of the summer window, and a number of names have surfaced on their radar. Among them is a potential move for Myles Lewis-Skelly, with the club exploring whether a deal with Arsenal could be possible.

Figures at Old Trafford see the left side of defence as an area that needs reinforcing, particularly with the view that Luke Shaw should no longer go without real competition for his spot.

Changes are expected within the current squad. Tyrell Malacia is likely to depart, while Patrick Dorgu is increasingly being seen as a more attacking option rather than a traditional full-back. Over at Arsenal, a busy summer is anticipated in terms of both arrivals and exits, and Lewis-Skelly is one of the players who could be allowed to leave.

The 19-year-old academy product has been highly rated for years, but breaking into the first team has become more difficult. New additions such as Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori have limited his chances at left-back, and opportunities further forward have also been scarce. As a result, his development on the international stage has stalled.

Previously mentioned as part of England’s long-term plans under Thomas Tuchel, his hopes of making the next World Cup squad have taken a hit due to limited minutes. It’s understood that Lewis-Skelly is now considering a move to secure regular playing time, and Arsenal are open to selling, which would represent a valuable return on a homegrown player.

That said, if Manchester United decide to step up their pursuit, they won’t be alone. Several Premier League clubs are keeping close tabs on the situation, with Everton and Brentford—both aiming for European spots—showing strong interest.

United’s scouting department has been monitoring Lewis-Skelly as part of a wider search for reinforcements at left-back, determined to avoid the same issues that have plagued the position in recent seasons due to injuries and a packed schedule.
