What a mistake to make! Germans are out of beer as Scotts run riots in Munich

You must have heard about the mythical Tartan Army - supporters of the Scottish national football team, which atract attention wherever they put their foot on.

Tens of thousands of supporters of Scotland made their journey to Germany for what is only their second major tournament since the 1998 World Cup. Therefore, the euphoria in the streets of Munich, where Scotland are about to face the hosts in the opening EURO 2024 game on Friday night, is evident and understandable. And where are Scotts, there is beer.

Or at least it was there...

According to British media, there's no more beer in some pubs in the Munich city centre. Taps ran dry in the city's Marienplatz, just hours after Scots fans arrived for Friday's game.

One waitress, The Sun reports, even said: "It's not our fault - your fans like beer so much."

Brian Robertson, 56, from Oxfordshire, groaned: "How can they run out of beer?

"We arrived at 12 noon and the place was dry by 4pm."

So now Munich bars have put breweries on alert for 'Scot-oberfest' and ordered more beer. They told their suppliers they need hundreds of thousands of pints for the thirsty Tartan Army ahead of the Germany clash.

Valetina Shaap, reservations manager at Munich's most famous bar, Hofbrauhaus, said: "We've had to order extra beer as we don't want to run out."

Association of Tartan Army Clubs spokesman Hamish Husband said:

"It's heartening to know German bars and beer gardens are stocking up, as we don't want them to run out of beer.

"They need to have stocks to celebrate a famous Scottish victory on Friday night," concluded Husband optimistically.
