West Ham snatches the fourth place off Chelsea: Champions League worthy half-time performance, Lingard's pre-goal 60-meter run (VIDEO)

Hammers are now in front of four "big six" teams - the Blues, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool
As of last night, four teams that a part of the English "big six" are looking at the back of West Ham - Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal. The first half David Moyes' team played against Wolverhampton, according to all attacking parameters, was at Champions League level. After all, the award arrived in the form of the fourth position, which guarantees placement in the elite European competition - 2:3.
Everton slipped against Crystal Palace a little earlier yesterday (1:1), and the Hammers did not allow themselves to be late for one of the last trains for the Champions League. On the contrary - they boarded the first-class wagon and confidently slammed the door.
What Jesse Lingard, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen did until the 38th-minute-mark reminded everyone of the third round of Premier League when the Wolves were guests at the London Olympic Stadium (4:0). However, all the great things the Hammers did last night, one must be honest and admit one thing. If, by the end of the season, David Moyes' squad has drops in concentration, as they did in the finish of the first and during most of the second half, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham will easily pass them by.
For starters, what Jesse Lingard has been showing since arriving in West Ham deserves only praise. Not only has he resurrected his game, not only is he a member of the England national team again, but the wave of self-confidence on which he rides allows him to run over 60 meters with the ball, easily avoid the rival's defense and send the ball into the net. Since Lingard made his debut for the London team on February 3rd, him and Harry Kane hold the first place in goal participations (9 combined goals and assists).
The lead by the guests was followed by Fornals scoring the second. For the third, Bowen pierced through Patricio by sending the ball next to the post Portuguese keeper was covering, so it is fair to say Rui Patricio is to blame.
And then came the response from the wolf-pack. The Adam Traore - Leander Dendonker combination brought the score to 1:3 before the end of the half, and the aggressive approach of Nuno Espirito Santo's team in the second half forced the opponent to completely withdraw and focus exclusively on defending. At halftime, the highly-paid Portuguese acquisition Fabio Silva came into play - an "on-point" substitution made by Espirito Santo. Pedro Neto's beautiful ball was tamed by the teenager without any problems before he hit the far corner of Fabianski's goal.
Instead of rushing towards the West Ham's goal, Wolves' energy slowly began to fade, and the Hammers three-goal credit turned out to be enough for a new victory. A huge feat for the Hammers, who will welcome Leicester City next, and in three rounds, Chelsea will come to them as one of the direct competitors for the fourth place.
