Former Arsenal forward Lucas Perez scores a brace on his debut for Deportivo La Coruna after he paid a substantial part of the transfer to join his beloved club

A week ago, we informed you about the strange case of former Arsenal attacker Lucas Perez and his intention to go down two divisions from La Liga to the third tier. And as if it was not enough, Perez was willing to pay for it.

The story went viral and reached not only Kenya but the entire globe. And it was just a part of it, the beginning. What followed was amazing, too.

Last night, Perez made his debut for Deportivo La Coruna, at least in this third stint of his for the once-colossus. He scored twice on a dream debut for boyhood club in a fairytale return.

For his opener, he latched onto a delicious pass in behind and rounded the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the empty net.

Estadio Riazor erupted, just like when Perez helped himself to a second in a comfortable 3-0 win against Unionistas.

"This is not Lucas Perez's club," he said at his official presentation.

"It is the city's club, the fans' club, the club of many kids, many mums and dads.

"People talk about this being me going to play in [the third division], but I don't see it like that: I see it as going to play at Deportivo."
