Weghorst isn’t 'fit to lace Ronaldo’s boots', but he contributes more to United

He is convinced that Cristiano didn't play under Erik ten Hag because of the statistics.

"United have a striker who shouldn't be there. But he contributes more to the team than Ronaldo, who I believe is the best player in the world. I think the stats are why Ronaldo was left out. Weghorst isn’t 'fit to lace Ronaldo’s boots'".

Six players on Ten Hag's 'sell' list

Jamie Carragher was persistent, he repeated the question of who Neville would choose between the two players and got a diplomatic answer.

"I don't think either of them should be playing for United at the moment. The only thing that matters is who Ten Haag chooses. I don't know who I'd pick. I think I'd move it from game to game, sometimes I'd pick Ronaldo, sometimes I'd pick Weghorst. If I was playing at home, I'd play Ronaldo, if I was away from home, I'd probably pick Weghorst.", concluded Gary Neville.
