We have been reduced to 'spectators' says Leopards midfielder

AFC Leopards midfielder Musa Oundo has regretted that the player transfer ban the club is currently serving has reduced him alongside other more than half a dozen players to cheerleaders.

The Leopards' technical bench has had to do without the services of close to ten players after they failed to obtain clearance and licenses to play in the league thanks to the ban.

Leopards were slapped with a two-window transfer ban after failing to clear dues owed to their former international players on time.

Oundo who is among the affected players said it was disappointing to train daily only to be reduced to a spectator on match days despite being fully fit.

The defensive midfielder revealed that the players locked out had developed a habit of being at the forefront of cheering their colleagues on the pitch during match days.

“I was looking forward to playing for Leopards but unfortunately, I was locked out with other nine players. It is sad that we can’t play nor can we make moves as the transfer window is closed. Apart from training, we have taken it upon ourselves to be the best cheerleaders on match days,” he said.

Oundo who joined Leopards from National Super League side Kibera Black Stars in the meantime believes that the issues will be resolved early next year and allow the players to contest for game time.

The former Mathare United midfielder said the assurance from the management and words of encouragement from coach Patrick Aussems had injected hope in him of featuring for the former champions.

“The management says that the ban will be lifted possibly in January and subsequently, we will be free to play for the club. I hope this will come to pass for I badly want to play for this great club,” he added.
