Uganda are currently in second place and have a chance to progress to the final qualification round only if they win their last two games

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic named his 28 man provisional squad that is set to battle for the solitary Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup slot up for grabs when his team takes on Kenya and Mali in the last two do or die qualifiers for his side.

Currently, the Cranes sit second in Group E on eight points and still have a chance to grab the ticket to the final qualifying round should they win their remaining matches against Harambee Stars and Mali. It is important for them to grab all the six available points as failure to do so will see Mali, who top the group on 10 points, take the single ticket.

In the squad named, there are a couple of new faces from the side that played against Rwanda last month. These include Scottish based defender Bevis Kristofer, Kizito Mugabi of Motherwell Football Club, John Revita (KCCA), goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya (Azam, Tanzania), forward Allan Okello (AC Paradou, Algeria), Mahad Kakooza (Express) as well as the Sports Club Villa duo of Gavin Kizito Mugweri and Kenneth Ssemakula. Former Gor Mahia player Khalid Aucho is maintained in the squad.

Uganda welcome Harambee Stars on Thursday 11 November at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende before travelling to take on Mali on 14 November in Guinea.
