Owino, who scored six league goals last season says he wants to go for double digits and has set 13 as his target for the 2021/22 season.

Wazito FC striker Michael 'Wise' Owino has set a target of 13 league goals for the 2021/22 FKF Premier League that kicked off two weeks ago.

The soft-spoken forward began the new season with a goal against newbies FC Talanta in a 1-1 draw at the Ruaraka Grounds on 25th September.

It was a positive start for Owino who took time before netting his first of the campaign against Kakamega Homeboyz last season. He ended the campaign with six league goals.

The former Bidco United and Kisumu All-Stars strikers has now set his eyes on doubling his tally this campaign. He says he wants to get at least 13 and hopefully surpass it. He further believes that with aid from his teammates, he will achieve the goal he has set for himself.

"I am happy that I scored in the first game of the season because that gives me confidence and a good ground to start the season from. It would have been better if we had won but unfortunately we only managed to get a point from the game. But that game is now behind us and we now focus on the coming one against Kakamega Homeboyz. In terms of personal target, I want to hit double digits this season. 13 is my goal but if I can get more the better. This calls for hardwork from my side, I am confident that with help from my teammates I can surpass the target and as a team we will perform better than we did last season," he told Mozzart Sport.

The Francis Kimanzi-led outfit finished in the ninth position last season and they will be seeking to better the performance this coming season. The tactician believes that his team can fight for accolades this campaign after what has been a fruitful recruitment exercise.

Next for Wazito is a home match against Kakamega Homeboyz on 17th October in Nairobi. Coach Kimanzi will be hoping to continue with the recently discovered dominance over Homeboyz after completing a double over them last season.
