The new signing has not played a full match since joining Wazito back in February

Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Wazito FC has received a timely boost in their season’s campaign with new signing Elli Asieche set to make his return from injury in the second leg of the season. The midfielder, who made a shocking exit from Sofapaka before joining the madgoat boys in early February, has only been able to make one appearance for the Francis Kimanzi led side, a cameo from the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Tusker.

Since that game on 5th February that saw the Brewers end Wazito’s five match winning streak for the month of January, Asieche’s team have only managed to record one win in the last five games they have played. Performances that have seen the club slip from as high as third position to sixth position currently on the log standings.

The new signing made his comeback for injury by scoring in a 3-0 win against National Super League side Kenya Police FC in a friendly game played at the Marist Training Ground. The goals, all scored in the second half, were courtesy of Brian Musa, Elli Asieche and Erick Otieno. A source close to the club confirmed that the player is fully fit and has shaken off the injury that has kept him out for almost two months.

“He (Asieche) played in the second fourty five minutes today in the friendly tie and scored one goal,” the source said.

With the international break taking centre stage this weekend in the local league, Asieche will have to wait till the 3rd April before featuring again when Wazito take on his former inconsistent Sofapaka side away in Wundanyi Stadium in Taita.
