Otieno nets sole goal of the game to hand Wazito their seventh win of the season

A fifth-minute goal by Eric Otieno proved enough to guide Wazito back to their winning ways in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) after subduing Zoo FC 1-0 at the Bukhungu Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Otieno, a February catch from Nzoia Sugar repaid coach Francis Kimanzi’s faith after the former Harambee Stars coach handed him his first start with the match-winning goal which took Wazito's wins to seven.

While the win was sweet music in the ears of Kimanzi, his Zoo counterpart Herman Iswekha was left licking wounds after stretching his win-less start to eleven matches this season.

Besides handing Otieno his maiden start, Kimanzi extended the favor to Rooney Onyango who was slotted at the right-back ahead of Dennis Sikhayi. Onyango arrived at Wazito last month from National Super League side Gusii United.

The former Sofapaka gaffer also rung changes at the heart of the defense by resting his skipper Bernard Ochieng following the return of Johnstone Omurwa from suspension.

Omurwa was paired alongside Maurice Ojwang who found the back of the net during their previous match against Mathare United.

Iswekha on the other hand made one change to the squad that played Kakamega Homeboyz to a 1-1 draw bringing in Castro Likhanga for Bernard Wanguche

Otieno who filled in Michael Owino's shoes got off the mark after Whyvonne Isuza put him through. Despite both coaches throwing fresh legs in the second half, Otieno's goal remained unchallenged until the final whistle to gift Wazito their first win away from Nairobi.
