Was it really a great season for the Red Devils? If you ask Fred, it sure was

After not claiming a single trophy and finishing 12 points behind rivals Manchester City - not a realistic view from the Brazilian midfielder
Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left the Man United managerial position, the team has been in sort of a limbo. Red Devils have little to no continuity and that winning DNA the club was proud of is not as present as it once was.
Several managers tried to bring United back to the top of both England and Europe but only Jose Mourinho managed to win a Europa League trophy back in 2017.
Even though they again failed to collect at least one piece of silverware, holding midfielder Fred believes Manchester United can be happy looking back at last season and the club's efforts.
Finishing the season with a dozen points less than town rivals Manchester City in the Premier League, losing the Europa League final to Villarreal - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men failed to land their first trophy of any kind since 'the Special One' was at the wheel.
The Old Trafford squad were knocked out of competitions at the semi-final stage four times and now have two defeats in the finals to go with that - all of the disappointments happening under the Norwegian's guidance.

Regardless, the midfielder was clear when asked if the team is improving - he was in positive mood as he reflected on the campaign and is optimistic about the future.
'Definitely, for me the team's done really well and been growing over the season,' the midfielder told United's official website.
'We didn't start that well as we didn't have a pre-season. We had the Europa League semi-final which prolonged last season.
'We didn't have a pre-season and got better and better over the season and reached the final.
'I think overall the team's had a great season, we could have achieved more, we wanted to win more trophies, but I think generally it's been a great season.'
The 28-year-old signed for the club in 2018 for 73.5 million USD (8 billion KSH) from Shakhtar Donetsk. He believes his performances on the pitch are a result of the faith his manager has shown in him.
Fred made 48 appearances across all competitions of which 27 were Premier League starts.
'It's really important to me to be starting in games, to be in the eleven,' Fred said.
'I've played and started in a lot of games this season. I'm really happy with this, happy to have been in good form and having a great season together with the entire team.
'As I've already said, I want much more, more trophies with United, I want to achieve a lot here and I'm sure there's a lot more to come.'
The upcoming transfer window will provide a clearer picture on the ambitions and the realistic projections of just how far can Man United extend their reach in the following campaign.
What are your thoughts on United's 2020/21 season? Do you agree with Fred?
