Wan-Bissaka's red card and Lingaard's blunder give Young Boys a shocking win

And the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has officially begun! After a fantastic transfer window and with the likes of Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane now playing for Manchester, the stakes are high and the pressure is definitely on the Norwegian coach, after the Red Devil’s were stunned by the Swiss in the first match of the new Champions League: Young Boys – Manchester United 2-1.

On a night when Ronaldo scored his third goal in just 113 minutes of play for Manchester, few have believed that 90 minutes later, it would be 2-1 for the hosts, but eventually, the miracles happen in the Champions League. Or, it is just Ole Gunnar Solskjarer. Under his guidance, Manchester have lost a stunning 7 out of 11 games in the Champions League, and kept only one clean sheet. Surely, tonight, he didn’t got any help from Wan-Bissaka, whose clumsy challenge in the 35th minute left Solskjaer with only 10 men on the field, but United’s game before and after that wasn’t special. Solskjaer didn’t manage to motivate and guide his players well enough to at least keep the draw and he lost against the weakest team in the group.

After only 13 minutes, during which both sided tried to find their game, the result changed. It was a combination from the two Portuguese, as Fernandes made a superb pass to Ronaldo, who’s great shot was a bit lucky, and went through the keeper’s legs and into the net for the lead. But Young Boys didn’t surrender immediately, as United, apart from the goal, didn’t create any chance, so the hosts had their opportunity in the 24th minute, but Fassnacht’s shot was saved by De Gea. His counterpart Von Ballmoos did the same just one minute later, preventing Ronaldo to score another goal. Both players were on fire, because minutes later the Portuguese tried once more, but Young Boys keeper saved another shot.

And then Wan-Bissaka decided to make it hard for his teammates, as he made a clumsy challenge, straight on the ankle of Martins, and received a straight red card. Dalot immediately changed Sancho, who didn’t have the best game up to that point of the match anyway. Wan-Bissaka’s mistake almost backfired three minutes later, when Fassnacht made a fantastic volley, which went just wide of the bar. But, the punishment eventually came in the second half, when Elia sent in a superb cross from the right, and Ngamaleu beaten Varane for the equalizer. Young Boys were fueled by that goal, and eventually got their remarkable win in the 95th minute, when Jesse Lingard took a back pass, to De Hea, unaware that Siebatcheu was close, and the home team forward had an easy task of putting the ball into the net for the win.
