Katana watched proceedings from the substitutes bench

Kenyan international Anthony Wambani clocked ninety minutes when Vasalund played Swedish second tier league toppers Varnamo to a one-all draw at the Skytteholms Stadium on Monday night. Despite his presence on the pitch, the former Bandari man could not inspire the relegation threatened club to halt their five match winless run.

Nikola Karadjordje gave Vasalund the lead in the 57th minute but their leaking defence was once again a letdown as they conceded in the 66th minute when Christian Moses of Sierra Leone found the back of the net to ensure that grabbed a point away.

The draw saw Vasalund remain rooted at the rock bottom of the log with 22 points, one shy of Vasteras while Varnamo sit comfortably at the apex with 47 points. Jonkopings Sodra, home to Harambee Stars playmaker Eric Johana are placed eighth with 32 points.

Wambani has been attached to the club from January 2019 since leaving the dockers and was joined by compatriot Mohamed Katana in August.

The latter who is popularly known as Messi Agege penned a five-year long deal and made his debut last month, coming off the bench in their 2-1 defeat in the hands of Sundsvall.

However, the 21-year old was among the four unused substitutes in the Varnamo clash.
