WAFCON 2022: Uganda seeking redemption against Morocco

Senegal leads Group C, followed by Morocco, then Uganda, and lastly Burkina Faso

Uganda will be out to get back to contention at the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco when they take on the hosts at Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, Rabat on Tuesday starting at 11 PM EAT.

Morocco started their campaign on a winning note with a hard-fought 1-0 win over a gallant Burkina Faso at the same facility courtesy of a lone goal in the 29th minute scored by captain Ghizlane Chebbak.

Uganda, on the other hand, lost their opener to Senegal on Sunday courtesy of goals from Diakhaté Ndeye from the spot in the first half and Nguenar Ndiaye in the second period.

To keep their hopes of continuing to the knockouts alive, Uganda have to beat Morocco and take it up from there in the last group match against Burkina Faso

Crested Cranes' Coach George Lutalo is aware of what is at stake and he is convinced his charges will make amends to the mistakes made in the first game against Senegal.

“We come into this game on the back of a loss. Having looked at our performance, we have tried to rectify our mistakes and hope for improvement against hosts Morocco. It is a tough game for us but we must find a good result to keep our dreams alive,” Lutalo said in the pre-match briefing.

Before the do-or-die match for the East African side, Senegal will take on Burkina Faso at the same venue at 8 PM EAT.

The West African country leads the standings in Group C on a superior goal difference and will be out to stretch the lead in their second game while Burkina Faso will hope to upset them.
