Michael Olunga made his AFC Champions League debut for Al Duhail.

Al Duhail kicked off their AFC Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Iraqi side Al Shorta on Thursday 15 April as Alywn Tera and Saburtalo emerged victorious in Gerogia.

Kenyan international Michael Olunga was again trusted to lead the Duhail line as he made his debut in the Champions League and played a key part in the opener as his shot was deflected in by Husam Kadhim who was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net in the 36th minute.

Edmilson Junior doubled Duhail’s lead in the 53rd minute as Almoez Ali put the ball on a plate for the Brazilian midfielder with Olunga being subbed off in the 75th minute for Mohammed Muntari.

Duhail take an early lead in Group C as Al Hilal and Esteghlal lock horns later on in the night.

Alwyn Tera

Elsewhere in Georgia, Kenyan international Alywn Tera started for Saburtalo Tiblisi in the 3-2 win over Samtredia on Thursday.

A hat-trick from Dmitri Mandrichenko was enough for Saburtalo to return back to winning ways following their draw against Dila Gori last time out.

Goals from Irakli Rukhadze and Nathan Junior put some respect in the scoreline for Samtredia as Tera was withdrawn in the 68th minute for Tornike Dzebniauri.

Anthony Akumu

Kenyan international Anthony Akumu again missed the Kaizer Chiefs line up in the 1-1 draw against Baroka as speculations on his future at the club continue to grow.

The last game Akumu featured for Chiefs was back in late March in the 1-0 win over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby.

Lebogang Manyama opened the scoring for Chiefs in the 58th minute while Evidence Makgopa snatched a point for Baroka with nine minutes left on the clock.
