An verbal agreement between the club and the player has been reached; only a formality remains
The long-running negotiations between FC Bayern and Dayot Upamecano appear to be reaching their conclusion. Following months of back-and-forth discussions, public speculation, and mounting tension, it’s now evident that the French centre-back will remain in Munich — and on considerably improved terms.
Clues had been emerging in recent days. Reports from France suggested that Upamecano was leaning heavily toward staying with Bayern, while German media, including BILD, indicated that both sides had found common ground on the key elements of a new contract.

Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the breakthrough: Upamecano and his representatives have accepted Bayern’s offer. Agreement has been reached on salary, bonuses, and contract length — meaning the deal is in its final stages.
This represents a huge win for Bayern. Upamecano’s performances under Vincent Kompany not only elevated him on the sporting stage but also drew interest from some of Europe’s top clubs. That Bayern has reportedly outmatched other suitors is notable.
According to Romano, the club offered “the best overall financial package,” with reports suggesting a yearly salary around 20 million euros, placing Upamecano among the elite earners at Sabener Strasse.

One point remains unresolved: the exit clause. Bayern is willing, in principle, to include one, but the specifics — including when it would come into effect and the exact amount — are still under discussion. Only once this is finalized can the contract be officially signed.
Even so, the breakthrough is clear. After months of negotiations, careful maneuvering, and strategic waiting, Bayern is on the verge of securing its key defender for the long term — a strong statement both on the sporting and strategic fronts.
