United's brain Bruno: Superb 16 assists, Beckham dethroned, and attempt on EPL record

In the remaining eight rounds, the Red Devils' captain needs five more key passes to dethrone Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne and become the best playmaker in a single Premier League season

Since Michael Carrick sat on Manchester United's bench, the Red Devils have revived. They won seven of the nine games under the former midfielder and firmly hold third place in the Premier League, which guarantees a ticket to the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.

However, even though Carrick's impact must not be neglected, the current United's season has had one constant that worked as well under Ruben Amorim, but wasn't followed by the rest of the team.

That constant is Bruno Fernandes.

The only bright spot in the club's disappointing stint during the Portuguese gaffer's stay at Old Trafford has been maintaining the same high level of play, and once his teammates joined in, better days started for the Manchester side.

In yesterday's 3-1 triumph against Aston Villa, Bruno provided two assists for the team's first two goals scored by Casemiro and Matheus Cunha, reaching the tally of 16 in the current Premier League campaign.

This way, the Portuguese broke David Beckham's record of 15 assists for United in a single season, set 26 years ago, and announced an attempt on the all-time EPL record of 20 assists held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Bruno will have eight more games at his disposal to make history. Given his passing abilities and his teammates' recent efficiency, this achievement is highly plausible.
