The contract proposal is on the table and the coach is currently negotiating with the club
The decision was made – Manchester United executives decided to propose to Sir Jim Ratcliffe to appoint Michael Carrick as the full-time manager. The minority United owner decided to listen to the advice of his sporting director and his CEO and the club’s representatives started negotiations with the interim manager. Carrick has done a great job since taking over in January and never wanted to talk about the permanent role, even when results were great and various TV pundits publicly hailed him. He stayed calm, avoided those questions and focused on his biggest task – securing the Champions League place. He managed it way before schedule (mainly due to other team’s results) but it was enough for the club’s officials to give him a proposal.
Manchester United confirm there will be an “opportunity to honour Casemiro” at full-time after their final home game against Nottingham Forest.

It is possible Carrick is confirmed as head coach ahead of this.

With a help of his players (who were also backing him as the full time manager), Carrick got the proposal he was privately expecting and the negotiations are now on the way. The club and interim manager are in talks over a two-year contract with the option to extend it by another 12 months. The club wants to do the job in time for today’s home game against Nottingham Forest (14:30) and announce it in front of the packed Old Trafford.
"The future for me is going to be decided pretty soon, we knew that. There's two games to go, and apart from that there's not much else to say. As a supporter and ex-player, to be in a position to come back and help and move forward was important. To make a big step, and be back in the Champions League is good. We're happy with the work we've done so far. The supporters are a massive part of this club. We thank them for the season and the support – the last four months for me personally. Regardless of that, for what we've gone through and that connection, the players have felt that. It's important for me to thank the fans for that“ said Carrick, who confirmed that he will talk to the fans at the stadium after the game. It will hopfully be as a permanent manager.
