The Eagles' winger Sidny Lopes Cabral enraged his team's fans by making a move he apparently didn't think through

Since last week, the second place on Benfica's list of archenemies has Vinicius Junior written all over it. The top spot is still reserved for their former boss Bela Guttman, who cursed them never to win another European trophy, creating a doom that's been following them for over 60 years.

Anyway, the racism scandal between the Brazilian and the Eagles' Gianluca Prestianni went global, while the Argentinian was suspended for yesterday's return leg between the Portuguese side and Real Madrid in Spain.

Los Blancos eventually triumphed 3-1 on aggregate, with Vini scoring two out of the La Liga club's three goals. So, the origins of Benfica's hostility towards the forward are clearly visible.

However, while coping with the elimination from the Champions League, the Eagles' fans faced another, if you ask them, perhaps even worse thing - a betrayal.

Namely, following the referee's final whistle, Benfica winger Sidny Lopes Cabral was seen asking Vini to swap jerseys - an unforgivable sin in the eyes of the Eagles' supporters, that's for sure.

The Madrid player pointed to the tunnel, indicating the swap would be done once the two left the pitch of Santiago Bernabeu, so the Cape Verdean probably got the "relic", but is now facing the consequences of his act.

Namely, according to the Portuguese Record, Lopes Cabral faces serious social media backlash, with Eagles fans claiming he doesn't respect Benfica, that he should have stayed in Madrid, and even wanting him out of the club!

Given that Jose Mourinho was suspended for last night's game, his assistant manager, Joao Tralhao, appeared in the post-match press conference, but only briefly remarked on the situation, avoiding a concrete answer to the question regarding the "jersey case".

"Regarding the shirt, obviously I'm not going to comment, because it's not actually a topic that concerns us at the moment. What concerns us, or at least what distracts us right now, is the frustration we feel at not having won here against Real Madrid, because we showed that we could," he said via Record.

In the end, Lopes Cabral may have gotten valuable memorabilia, but it came at a high price, as he brought his team's fans' anger down on himself.

Now, he can only hope they'll forgive him. Otherwise, the doors of Estadio da Luz will be closed for him, only two months after his arrival.
