The military men have posted a torrid campaign, flirting with relegation for the better part of the season, a situation that has also seen the appointment of three coaches to lead the team.
The latest changes included recalling club legend Hassan from Kenya Navy FC, where he was head coach, to serve as an assistant to fellow club icon, Mulinge Ndeto.
Speaking to the press after Ulinzi’s hard-fought 2-1 win over Mathare United on Saturday, 23 May at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, an elated Hassan expressed his confidence in the team's ability to weather the storm.
“We are a big team and cannot afford to drop to the NSL. We will be taking the same mentality that we had against Mathare to our remaining matches, and hopefully it pays off,” said Hassan.
In a golden show of character, the military outfit staged a second-half comeback to secure three points courtesy of a brace by the on-form Paul Okoth in the 58th and 84th minutes after The Slum Boys had taken the lead through Amos Nyambane in the 48th minute.

Hassan disclosed that the team drew inspiration from their military background to emerge victorious.
“The match was yet another final for us, and we had all agreed as a team, whether the military men or the civilians, that we have to play for the badge and show character like the military team that we are and that entailed coming back from a goal down,” he added.
Next up for the 2010 league champions is a crucial match against Tusker FC on Wednesday, 27 May at the Ulinzi Sports Complex from 1300 hrs.
Ulinzi are currently 15th on the log with 35 points, a place and a point above Kariobangi Sharks, who sit in the red zone with both teams having two matches to play before the end of the season.
