Before the victory, the four-time Kenyan champions had lost their opening two matches back to back, falling to AFC leopards 2-0 at the same venue in the first match and 3-2 to Kariobangi Sharks in the match that followed at Kasarani Annex.
However, the former Kakamega Homeboyz coach was delighted with the display of his side in the match to keep their first clean sheet of the season.
"I'm really happy with a clean sheet and winning the game. Physically, they gave absolutely everything, and they showed again a lot of maturity to get the three points. We continue being patient and supportive going forward because it's still work in progress," Mwalala said.
Following the win, Ulinzi are now 11th on the log with three points ahead of their weekend trip to Bukhungu Stadium where they are set to face off with third-placed Kakamega Homeboyz.
