Mwandaru was a Murang'a Seal target.

Ulinzi Stars have announced the signing of defender Omar Swaleh Mwandaru from National Super League side SS Assad for an undisclosed period of time.

The central defender has put ink to paper after training with the military outfit throughout their pre-season and featuring in a host of friendly games. He is expected to beef up the soldiers rearguard, which was not at its best last season.

"We are delighted to announce the signing of 𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐫 S𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐡 M𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐮. The centre back joins us from SS ASSAD FC! Welcome to Ulinzi Stars, Omar," the club announced in a statement.

Mwandaru, who was also an AFC Leopards target, becomes the Soldiers’ third off-season acquisition after the arrival of Ben Stanely Omondi from Sofapaka and Michael Wanyika from Bandari FC.

The soldiers start their 2023–24 FKF Premier League campaign with an away match against Nzoia Sugar. The match that will be played at Sudi Stadium on Saturday afternoon will kick off at 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards have announced their fifth signing ahead of their Sunday game against FC Talanta. Midfielder Boniface Munyendo has completed his transfer from Nzoia Sugar FC to the den. Other confirmed signings include Victor Otieno, Ronald Sichenje, Gideon Werre, and Randy Bakari.

"We are happy to announce that Boniface Munyendo has joined the AFC Leopards. The defensive midfielder joins us from Nzoia Sugar FC on a 2-year contract," read Ingwe’s statement.

The player, who had been on the Ulinzi Stars, Kakamega Homeboyz, and KCB radar, expressed his delight at sealing a switch to the den and promised to give his best to the team.

"I am excited to have made this move and looking forward to the big challenge ahead.  It's time to put in more work," he told the club media.
