UCL battle in Naples without two main stars
Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 15.02.26. | 11:55
Scott McTominay and Paulo Dybala are set to miss the Serie A derby clash between Napoli and AS Roma
The first derby match of the 25th Serie A round brought fireworks, as Inter Milan beat ten-man Juventus thanks to Piotr Zielinski's late winner, but also sparked a scandal as the Old Lady's Pierre Kalulu received an embarrassing second yellow card, while their boss and sporting director, Luciano Spalletti, and Damien Comolli, almost physically confronted the referee Federico La Penna.
The Nerazzurri increased their advantage over the second-placed AC Milan to eight points, while Juve remained behind Napoli and Roma, giving them a chance to further widen the gap and reach a more comfortable position in the race for the Champions League.
A silver lining for Juventus could be that the Neapolitans and the Giallorossi face each other tonight (22.45) in another derby duel at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, so only one team can win.
Both rivals will be without their key players, as Scott McTominay and Paulo Dybala are set to miss the match, due to tendon and knee injuries, respectively. With Matias Soule still in doubt, Bayern Munich loanee in Rome, Bryan Zaragoza, could start for the first time.

On the other hand, the Neapolitans will heavily rely on Rasmus Hojlund and their new wonderkid, Antonio Vergara, who scored three goals in the last four games. Romelu Lukaku will once again wait for a chance from the bench, as he is slowly but surely working his way back after the injury that kept him sidelined for six months.
Napoli currently have a three-point advantage over Roma, and an eventual win would put them back in contention for second place. On the other hand, if the visitors triumph, the UCL race will become as exciting as it gets, with Juve, Atalanta, and Como all breathing down the duo's neck.
