Brewers captain maintains they are firmly in the race to win ticket to CAF CL

Hard-tackling Tusker midfielder Hashim Sempala is not losing sleep over their recent poor run in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL).

The title chasing brewers have failed to bag maximum points in their last three matches, a run which works against their quest to win the ticket to represent the country in the CAF Champions League.

The Robert Matano coached outfit dropped six points in their last three matches following their shared spoils with Wazito, KCB and Nairobi City Stars and have consequently relinquished the top spot to fellow title contenders KCB.

Despite the rough patch, Sempala who skippers the club says they are working hard to bounce back to their winning ways and claim the ticket to continental matches on June 30.

"There is no cause for alarm at all in as far as our latest performance is concerned . It is normal for teams to have bad run of results at some point in any given season. The players are cognizant of what is at stake and are working their socks off to arrest the poor run," he said.

Sempala who was part of the squad which won a double in 2016 reiterated his desire to claim his third title while in Tusker colours.

The Ugandan midfielder revealed that they will be eyeing redemption when they travel to face a struggling Vihiga United in the next match scheduled for Sunday at the Mumias Sports Complex.

" Our immediate assignment is to redeem ourselves from our recent run then continue with our push to win the title. The players are hungry to deliver the elusive fete this time round. Our previous run does not necessarily mean that we have lost our focus," he added.
