The window will shut on September 15
Twelve-time Kenyan champions Tusker are not done with the player transfer business yet, as the club intends to bring in two more players before the window closes.
Tusker have signed five players so far and promoted young goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu from their junior team.
All the new recruits, including two-time Most Valuable Player award winner Erick Kapaito, have already debuted for the club in the two league matches played so far.
Other players who have since settled at Tusker include Joseph Mwangi, John Byamukama, James Kibande, and Fabian Adikiny.
The club also re-united with former skipper Eugene Asike, who had been keeping fit at Ruaraka since parting ways with Swedish side IF Karlstad.
Coach Robert Matano revealed that two more players are supposed to join the brewers before the transfer window closes on September 15.
Matano, without disclosing names, said the two were on their way to the brewery to take up the remaining slots. Tusker parted ways with seven players after the conclusion of the 2022–2023 season.
Notable among those who left are Jackson Macharia and Humphrey Mieno, who had won a couple of titles with the club, including the league in 2021.
“Of course, yes, two of them,” confirmed Matano when he was asked about the possibility of strengthening the team further.
The veteran gaffer handed Adikiny his Tusker and top-flight debut on Saturday against Kariobangi Sharks at the Ruaraka grounds.
He waxed lyrical on the towering midfielder for putting in a brave fight, especially in the second half, where Tusker rallied from behind to salvage a point.
“He struggled a little bit in the first half but did well in the second one. I trust him and his talent. He is young and willing to learn,” he praised the former Murang’a Seal defensive midfielder.
Tusker are scheduled to play Kakamega Homeboyz after the FIFA international week.
