The 23-man squad is made up of mostly local-based players, with Simba and Kagera Sugar having the lion's share of four each with Yanga following with three. Namungo two, and Geita Gold one with the remaining being foreign -based players.

Tusker FC duo of striker Ibrahim Joshua and defender Kalos Kirenge have been called up to Tanzania's squad that is set to do duty in the upcoming FIFA international break.

The two were named in the Taifa Stars squad announced on Tuesday morning by Hanoor Janza and are set to report to camp in preparation for two friendly matches against Libya.

While it is the third time that the left-footed striker has been called up to the national team, Kirenge is making a return after missing in a couple of instances, this being his first call-up as a Tusker player.

Kirenge's lack of playing time at the Ruaraka-based side might as well be blamed for the snub in the recent time, something that had made him contemplate ditching the FKFPL champions in search for playing time.

The defender was largely unused last season despite his terrific start of life with the Brewers that saw him feature in the continental matches and in the initial stages of the local league.

Joshua was named for the first time in the 28-man provisional squad for the two test matches against the Central Africa Republic and Sudan and went on to make his debut off the bench against the former.
