Turkish giants Fenerbahce express interest in Olunga

According to the latest transfer reports, Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga could be on the move yet again.

This is after Turkish giants Fenerbahce are understood to have expressed an interest in the Kenyan international.

In one of the Turkish daily newspapers, Takvim, Olunga is said to have been lined up as a transfer target for Fenerbahce who have not been able to win a league title since the 2013/2014 Super Lig season.

“An interesting claim was made from the Qatari media for Fenerbahce, which focused on the search for a coach. It has been stated that the Yellow-Navy Blues are closely interested in Michael Olunga, the striker of Al Duhail, one of the Qatar League teams. The Qatari media also carried on their pages that Fenerbahce management was very determined to transfer the star striker,” the website published.

Since completing his move to Al Duhail from Japanese side Kashiwa Resysol in January 2021, Olunga has continued to bang in goals for fun with his Qatari club.

In the just concluded Asian Champions League 2021 tournament, Olunga was named as the top scorer of the competition after bagging nine goals which could be one of the tournaments that have increased interest in him.

Currently, the former Gor Mahia man also leads the scoring charts in the Qatar Stars League where he has already scored thirteen league goals in eleven games.

The Kenyan striker, whose contract with the club expires in 2023, has made an overall of 169 appearances, scoring 111 goals and providing 20 assists.
