Juventus defender Merih Demiral is wanted by Everton
Turkish defenders are proving desirable goods on Merseyside. The arrival of Ozan Kabak to Liverpool in the January transfer window proved a decent piece of business for the Reds. Now, their rivals Everton are eying Juventus’ Turkey international centre-back Merih Demiral.
Italian media are claiming that Demiral is just one of many who will be let go by the Turin club following their largely unsuccessful season. The Bianconeri have already lost the Serie A title and are sweating over a Champions League place for next season. Someone has to pay.

Demiral has always been deemed as an important member of the squad but competition is fierce at centre-back. Juventus also have veterans Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci at their disposal as well as Matthijs de Ligt.
Now Demiral could be on the move and according to Calciomercato, Everton are ready to pounce. Apparently, Toffees have been in talks with the player's entourage and are now beginning to negotiate.
Everton are ready to table an offer of $35 million for the 23-year-old.
While Everton are also stacked with options at centre-back, they have still had their fair share of defensive problems. Ben Godfrey looks like he has a big future at Goodison Park but Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are still prone to the odd mistake. Bringing in another quality addition in Demiral could help Everton close the gap on the rest of the top six, although they are now not far away.
Demiral has been a revelation since arriving in Italy with Sassuolo before he was immediately snapped up by Juventus in the summer of 2019. A serious knee injury just over a year ago in January 2020 halted his development as he looks to become one of the best centre-backs in the world.
He is a player that has been monitored by both Manchester United and Arsenal in the past. Mikel Arteta is thought to be keen on Demiral but his price tag has proved problematic for Arsenal. But given the current financial climate, Juventus are expected to drop their valuation if they decide to sell.
