The WPL 2025/26 season is in its final stretch with only one match remaining until the end of the season.
Having been on the dugout for Trinity throughout the season and having attended a couple of other matches, Wesonga, in an interview with Mozzart Sport, took time to reflect on the season's positives.
“I am happy with the way the season has played out. At least this was more competitive than the previous ones, when Police used to win it even with five matches to play. This time they had to wait until almost the last match,” said Wesonga.
In the end, Kenya Police Bullets FC clinched the league title for the third consecutive time following their 1-0 win over Trinity Starlets on Sunday, 10 May.
While the Law Enforcers have dominated the league since their promotion in 2023, one other aspect delights Wesonga.
“I am also glad that this season, no team was unbeaten. Every team tasted defeat, which also signifies growth from all sides across the board. There was always something to look out for this season, which made it exciting,” he added.
For Trinity, they are currently fourth on the log with 33 points, one point shy of Kibera Soccer Women, who have already completed their season, with Wesonga now eying third place ahead of their last match against Gideon Starlets.
“We are yet to seal a third-place finish, which would be great for our season, and that is what we will be aiming at in our last match of the campaign,” he stated.
The former Wadadia tactician also took time to appreciate the club’s management following a smooth season for the Gilgil-based side.
“We are grateful for the support the management has shown the girls. They have made sure that we are at least comfortable, which eventually translates to performance on the pitch.”
