Trial against Manchester City will begin in a year

Reading Time: 3min | Thu. 30.11.23. | 18:51

The Citizens have been charged with 115 individual cases of infringement

The recent Everton points deduction for breaching financial rules has raised a huge debate in England, and from it, the topic of Manchester City has surfaced, that is, the question of what would be an adequate sanction for the Citizens who have been charged with 115 individual cases of infringement over the last five years. The offences committed by the club from Goodison are minor compared to those against the champion of England, and that's why for days there have been stories in the press about a potential relegation, but not just to one step, but more than one step below the Premier League.

According to the British media, it is also known when City will be tried - in about a year, that is, in the fall of 2024. So, Pep Guardiola and his men will be able to keep calm until the end of the current season, but already, from the 2024/25 competitive season, there will be some reason for anxiety.

The royal family from the United Arab Emirates, which owns the club (since 2008), hired the most powerful lawyers on the Island with the intention of disproving all 115 counts of the indictment, and there is an explanation as to why the Citizens will be tried in a year. Namely, in the meantime, both new witnesses in the case and a series of data directly related to the investigation have appeared. The verdict is expected in the summer of 2025 if everything goes according to plan.

Pep Guardiola has often been the target of press questions in recent days about the allegations facing City, and the Spanish pundit had some interesting remarks.

"You're questioning me as if we're being punished and right now we're innocent. I know people would like to... I feel it... But when the verdict is given, we'll sit down and I'll give an explanation. There's a better chance of me staying at the club if we get relegated, then if we win the Champions League" said Guardiola.
