Tottenham as we all want to see them! Spurs defeated the Bees

Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 02.02.25. | 19:00

It was Tottenham's first Premier League win since December 15th

What hasn't been going wrong for Tottenham lately? A string of injuries, and consequently, a series of defeats have marked the club’s recent struggles. However, despite all the setbacks, Ange Postecoglou's team managed to secure 3 points against Brentford away, winning 3-0.

The match didn’t start as usual for these two teams. In the first fifteen minutes, there were no notable chances for either side. However, there was a chance worth mentioning when Richarlison was a bit late in putting the ball in the net after a cross from Dejan Kulusevski.

On the other side, a header attempt by Yoane Wissa went over the goal. Overall, the home team was somewhat more dangerous, but their attacks were either blocked or went wide or over the goal.

In the 29th minute, during a corner for Tottenham, Son delivered a sharp cross into the box. Brentford's goalkeeper, Hakon Valdimarson, reacted poorly, and the ball ricocheted off Janelt’s back, resulting in an own goal that gave Tottenham the lead.

Brentford was persistent after Tottenham's goal, with crosses coming in from all directions. At one point, there was a statistic showing that between the 30th and 35th minute, the home team had an overwhelming possession advantage, with a ratio of 94-6.

However, the most concrete chance during that period came from Christian Norgaard, but guest goalkeeper Kinsky managed to preserve his team's lead with a crucial save. Since there were no significant chances for either side until the end of the first half, the score remained 1-0 in favor of Spurs as they went into the break.

As expected, Brentford came out strong at the start of the second half. In a span of just two minutes, they seriously threatened Kaminsky's goal first in the 52nd, and then again in the 53rd minute.

In the first situation, after a tricky cross from Norgaard, Tottenham’s goalkeeper managed to parry the ball, and in the scramble that followed, the ball fell to Schade. However, he couldn’t capitalize on the confusion in the defense. In the second, even better chance, Wissa found himself in the perfect position as the ball came to him at the box. Unfortunately for the home side, the striker hit the crossbar.

Despite constant pressure, Brentford couldn't find the back of the net, and all their efforts were punished in the 87th minute. Pape Matar Sarr capitalized on a great pass from Son and, with a calm finish, doubled his team's lead.

There was no change until the end of the match, and Tottenham secured a priceless victory that could get them back on track. After this match, Spurs have 27 points, while Brentford remains at 31.
