It's not official yet, but the Italian and English media have no dilemma - Tonali will be sidelined until August next year due to betting on the black market

Sandro Tonali is about to miss the entire club season with Newcastle United, but also the European Championship in 2024 if Italy qualifies.

However, as there is still no confirmation from the Italian authorities about his suspension, Tonali could very easily find himself in the Magpies starting XI for tonight's Champions League game away to Dortmund.

After all, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe stated at yesterday's press conference that Tonali is ready and that he's considering him for the UCL group stage game.

"As far as I'm aware of the situation, I expect him to be available for the Dortmund tie. I'll plan that until I'm told otherwise," Howe commented briefly.

The positive thing is that Tonali will be allowed to train with the team during the suspension.

Let us remind you that Tonali arrived at St. James' Park after the English club paid AC Milan €64m. He has made 11 appearances for the Toons in the previous four months, netting on his debut against Aston Villa.
